Did you ever watch Boy Meets World growing up? If yes, skip the next two sentences. If not, then let me set the scene. A 90’s sitcom about the wholesome, suburban Philadelphia Matthews family, who have two teenage sons. The older brother, Eric, bonks his younger brother, Cory, on the forehead and says “Life’s tough, get a helmet.” While I don’t condone violence, I do agree that life can be tough sometimes. And while wearing a helmet is beneficial in a lot of scenarios (think: riding a bike), it is not so beneficial in the emotional, social, psychological, or theoretical realms.
In reality, Eric’s statement probably should have been “Life’s tough. Get a therapist”. It would have set Cory up for success, and enabled him to overcome life’s challenges with coping skills, empathy, and support.
That is where I come in. I am a strengths-based therapist, with an affinity for creativity and the arts. I utilize an integrative approach that I tailor to each individual client. I can help facilitate change in your life by enabling and empowering you to draw from your personal strengths, values, and beliefs. Send me an email, shoot me a text, or give me a call.
